Apollo 12
I was quite surprised at how loud and hard the bass drum is on this track, but I like it now,
so I’ve left it.
Sometimes when I’ve tried to perfect a track in terms of its overall mix, I’ve ended up ‘killing’ the track! The energy and life seems to get sucked out of it after about 10mixes and the first sometimes still the most lively and brightest. The track itself is dedicated to those brave men who risked everything in the early days of space exploration. (The danger still hasn’t gone away). The samples are from the actual landing sequence from Apollo 12. Some of the astronauts lines are quite amazing. On the surface of the moon Pete Conrad says "I want to just sit here and play with the rocks for a while, look at these things they’re so shiny and sparkly..." Think he needs his O2 levels checked! In the first sequence of  "50 feet, coming down at three (feet per second), coming down at two", then from control "beep, 30 seconds" (of fuel remaining) you can hear the tension (and fear) in their voices, then the relief as they realise they are down! ![]() ![]() |
